Exploring the Palette of 2024: Colors of the Year

April 8, 2024

Color is a fundamental part of our lives and can evoke emotions, set moods, and inspire creativity. At Harbor Homes, we understand the significance of color in shaping the feeling and character of a home, and we’re looking at the trends and the colors of the year.

Oceanic Blues: Reminding us of the depths of the ocean, shades of blue emerge as the dominant force in color trends for 2024. From serene aquamarine to deep navy, these hues instill a sense of calmness and serenity, creating a soothing oasis within the home. Awarded more color of the year titles than any other hue this year, a few of these blues include Sherwin-Willams Upward 6239, Benjamin Moore Blue Nova, Dunn-Edwards Skipping Stones, Thermal by C2, and Bay Blue by Minwax

Lush Greens: Nature finds its way into our homes with verdant greens. Symbolizing growth, vitality, and renewal, shades ranging from emerald to sage bring a sense of tranquility and harmony to living spaces. Ironside, Dutch Boy’s Color of the Year, is a deep and moody olive that pairs well with earthly grays and cream. Whether adorning accent walls or infused into furnishings, this color is meant to evoke a feeling of sanctuary. Moving outside and looking at siding, James Hardie announced its first-ever color of the year – Mountain Sage.

Warm and Earthly: Grounded and versatile, earthy colors continue to hold sway in interior design palettes. Warm tones such as terracotta, clay, and caramel envelop rooms in a cocoon of comfort. Pantone’s Peach Fuzz is a bright but delicate shade that adds a soft, cozy feeling to any room. HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams Persimmon is another lively yet soft hue with earthy terracotta undertones. If you’re looking for warmth, Glidden’s Limitless is a nearly-yellow honey beige hue meant to blend with both warm and cool tones. Still earthly, but dark and moody is Cracked Pepper by Behr. This sophisticated, inky neutral works with almost any design style.

Color is a journey of self-expression and creativity, and this year’s colors provide endless possibilities to transform your home into a sanctuary of style and comfort.
